workplace comedy about the IT Department
I wish we had more workplace comedies. I really do. Even workplace shows in general are great. I have found few things as exhilarating as learning about a new a line of work. When it can be combined with a bit of humor, that is just brilliant.
This is about the people in the IT Department at Reynholm Industries. Their relationship with each other, their interactions with the company, their desires and idiosyncrasies. All the characters are original and quite intriguing. There should be more episodes.
It is funny how important information technology has become in our lives in the last 20 years, and yet we do not really understand much about it and still treat the people involved in it as some kind of pariahs - only dealing with them with distrust and out of necessity.

“Bernard, I have served eleven governments in the past thirty years.
If I had believed in all their policies, I would have been passionately committed to keeping out of the Common Market, and passionately committed to going into it…
… A nationalisation freak and a privatisation maniac; but above all, I would have been a stark-staring, raving schizophrenic.”
— Sir Humphrey Appleby
“Education in this country is a disaster. We’re supposed to be preparing children for a working life. Three quarters of the time they’re bored stiff!”
”Well I should have thought that being bored stiff for three quarters of the time was an excellent preparation for working life.”
— Jim Hacker & Sir Humphrey
