Even the smallest person can change the course of history
It was a master stroke to create The Hobbit first. The book makes for easy reading and is ideally suited for young readers, unlike its sequel. It is a great way to be introduced to the world of Middle Earth and all its inhabitants.
While modern readers might find the syntax a bit verbose and hard to follow at time, the world it helps create is priceless. And while everyone might not have the patience to decipher the elvish language, it does make for interesting reading.
The beauty of the work is manifest in how even after all these decades have passed, we can still find joy and fascination in reading about Bilbo Baggins and the company of dwarves setting out to slay a dragon and reclaim a lost kingdom.
