This peninsula is made up of two islands, and many more casinos. A significant change from being a trading colony of the Portuguese. There are numerous anachronism from the centuries of Portuguese dominion, however the culture is distinctly Chinese, with dashes of European influence.

This is not just another gambling den in the Indian Ocean. There is a rich vein of history and culture to be experienced. The A-Ma Temple, an ancient Tao temple, from which Macau derives its name, is a journey to the roots of the land. The facade still standing in the Ruins of St. Paul's church is testament to another chapter of the illustrious past.

Today the casinos are its claim to fame. The biggest casino in the world, the Venetian Macau, serves gamblers and tourists alike, along with numerous others such as the Grand Lisboa. While the hopeful seeking to beat the odds at these establishments might not always succeed, this city certainly continues to beat the odds time and again.
